The director of Explore Minnesota says it's been a good summer for tourism, and the hope is that more and more people are making plans to visit Minnesota this fall and winter.

John Edman, with Explore Minnesota, says there's no way to be clear if Minnesota tourism will be up this fall, but he says there are many places across the state that attract out-of-towners.

"People are anticipating and wanting to do that this fall, and we hope that that continues, not only in the fall, but in the winter, in the years ahead," he said.

Edman says tourism hotspots range from arts, culture and sports in the Twin Cities to the North Shore or Lake Superior.

Tourism is currently a $12 billion industry.
