Vendors inside the Grandstand at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds are cheering at the sound of thunder in the forecast.

"When it rains out, everybody heads in here to see us so we love it," said Garlic Gourmay Booth owner Tracy Robinson.

The fact that Robinson purposefully spells the word "gourmet" wrong at his booth goes to show his unconventional way of thinking pays off.  Robinson makes 35 percent of his annual profits at his Grandstand booth over those 12 days at the fairgrounds.  He sells garlic Bloody Mary mix, garlic olive oil and wears garlic around his neck all 12 hours his booth is open.

This year, he says sales have been better than ever before.  Robinson estimates business is up 30 percent from last year.

"Really because of the weather," he said.

But the last week of sunshine is coming to an end, Thursday afternoon.  Still, vendors inside the Grandstand are welcoming the change.

"Last year it was crazy hot," said another vendor.  "This year we've had nice weather so more people are coming.  It's been crazy."

Over in the new West End Market, vendors estimate they're getting up to three times more business than they saw last year at this time.
