A birthday party at a local south metro skate rink Thursday night had the town talking.
International pop star Katy Perry celebrated country signer Kacey Musgraves' birthday at Skateville in Burnsville.
Perry had booked the private event weeks in advance, according to Skateville co-owner Jason McKenzie.
The two skated around the rink and posed for pictures with employees. Perry posted a video on Instagram of her dancing with a toy alien to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."
Perry is scheduled to perform at the Target Center on Friday night in Minneapolis as part of her PRISMATIC World Tour, and Musgraves is slated to open the show.
Skateville has been around for more than 40 years. It is located on Highway 13 off Interstate 35W.
The company spent $250,000 in improvements last year, including adding a new website, McKenzie said. He credits the revamp to Skateville's visibility on Perry's production team's radar.
McKenzie said following Musgraves' event, phones were ringing non-stop with calls from customers looking to book birthday parties.
