The police department mourning the loss of one of their own welcomed a new partner in blue Tuesday night.
The Mendota Heights police chief and city council helped swear in Officer Nick Gorgos.
Gorgos, originally from St. Paul, has seven years of patrol, narcotics, SWAT and detective experience with the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department in Georgia.
The swearing in was a routine hire planned months before the death of Officer Scott Patrick.
Patrick was killed nearly three weeks ago during a traffic stop.
