A local high school football player who collapsed at practice in Mendota Heights is recovering thanks to the quick action of his coaches and training staff, according to the St. Thomas Academy Head Master.

He says on Friday a sophomore student was revived with a defibrillator.

He adds that the young man remains in the hospital but is recovering faster than originally projected.

The school does not believe the collapse was related to football practice.
