Thursday is a day to give back in the Twin Cities.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman have proclaimed it Greater Twin Cities United Way Action Day.
Community members are invited to take part in “speed volunteering” activities in 15-minute shifts at four locations. Volunteers will be packing food and health items for people in need from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Items include laundry soap, dental supplies, school supplies, healthy snacks and blankets.
Events are held at the Xcel Energy Plaza in Minneapolis, the Ecolab Plaza in St. Paul, and Securian Financial Group in St. Paul.
The initiative is a United Way campaign that works to educate people on how they can make a difference through volunteering.
