The American Society of Crime Lab Directors has reaccredited the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Crime Lab.

On Monday, KSTP received a behind the scenes look at the lab in Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says the lab has helped with a 36 percent decrease in violent crime over the last seven years.

“These impressive results are indicative of the dedication, commitment and hard work contributed by Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab personnel. I am extremely proud of the exemplary job they do each and every day to provide an invaluable skill set to law enforcement and the criminal justice system,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek.

The department also says it has a crime lab vehicle, which gets called out to roughly 3,200 crime scenes.
