A Burnsville teenager, who was critically hurt when the SUV he was riding in crashed last week, is showing improvement.

According to 18-year-old Cole Borchardt's CaringBridge webpage, he had a good night Saturday night, possibly the best since he arrived at Regions Hospital Wednesday.

He is recovering after emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain and remove his spleen and kidney.

Bochardt has undergone four surgeries since the accident last week.

“Cole has a long road ahead of him. Please pray for healing, strength and patience,” the site said. “We are grateful for the love and support of family and friends.”

Borchardt was a passenger in the SUV when it rolled on Highway 52 in Dakota County.

Seven-teen-year-old Ty Alyea died in the crash. Authorities say the two teens were not wearing seatbelts.

Two others were hurt, but officials say they're okay.
