There's a new play taking the stage at the Hopkins Art Center this month.

With it comes song, dance, drama and laughter. It's called, "When Momma Prayed."

KSTP sat down with director and playwright Darryl Harrell and one of the singers, Teri Myrand, to tallk more about the play, which takes place in the deep south during the 1960's.

In the play, the father unexpectedly passes away and the family is left without food and money. Their situation becomes dire.

Tickets range from $10 to $24.

There are performances at the Hopkins Art Center Thursdays through Saturdays through the end of the month.
