Twin Cities Live's Mike Marcotte picks local events worth checking out this weekend throughout the Twin Cities.
Starting Friday, Aug. 8, the "nation's largest free Irish Fair" will be held on Harriet Island. The Irish Fair of Minnesota will feature concerts, dancing, food and a peaceful tea room.
Gaelic Storm will perform Saturday, Aug. 9, at 8:30 p.m. and again Sunday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m. Local band Hounds of Finn will also perform Saturday afternoon on the main stage.
Attendees are warned to avoid parking at Harriet Island and are advised to go the Metro Green Line or take a bus to Union Depot where they can hop on a free shuttle. More information can be found at the Irish Fair website.
The Power Balladz will also take place Friday and Saturday at the the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.
The event starts at 8 p.m. each night with a cast from Minneapolis singing the best of 80's rock; including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Journey.
Guests are invited to join in during this sing along style event.
Tickets start at $40 and are available at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre's website.
