Police say an officer from Mendota Heights Police Department who was shot after making a traffic stop died of his wounds.
The slain officer was identified as 47-year-old Scott Patrick.
Patrick was shot about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday after pulling over a car in West St. Paul. Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots.
The stop officer Patrick made started out like any other.
Mylan Masson, the director of the law enforcement program at Hennepin Technical College, stopped by KSTP to talk more about the constant threat of danger for officers when they're approaching a vehicle and they're not sure who's inside it.
