Three women where hurt after several trees fell on their tents while camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Wednesday.

It happened around noon on Loon Lake, about 10 miles away from another incident, where trees fell on tents and injured a different group of campers near Lady Boot Bay on Lac La Croix Lake, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

The group of five people was camping in two tents when storms rolled through the area and toppled trees on top of them.

Sixty-year-old Deborah Zuaro from Northfield, Vermont; 53-year-old Susan Eich from Minneapolis were taken from the campsite by the U.S. Forest plane and one was then airlifted to a hospital in Duluth. The other woman was taken to Ely-Bloomenson Hospital by ambulance. Both are in serious condition.

Sixty-two-year-old Linda Desjardins from St. Cloud was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries.
