Brooklyn Park city officials are hoping social media can better connect neighbors.
The city is joining an initiative called Nextdoor, a private social networking website that allows residents to share information, talk about public safety issues, list community events and even post notices about lost pets.
Each Brooklyn Park neighborhood has its own private Nextdoor neighborhood website, open only to residents who verify they live in the neighborhood. Brooklyn Park city officials say about 25 neighborhoods have started Nextdoor websites.
Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit www.nextdoor.com and enter their address.
