U.S. Sen. Al Franken is set to highlight the importance of free and open Internet during an event in St. Paul on Friday.

Franken will meet with business leaders who say they will be harmed if proposed FCC rules allow the creation of an Internet “fast lane” just for those who can afford it. He’s currently working on legislation to ensure consumers can access all Internet content equally and that the website of a small business loads as quickly as the website of a large corporation.

Franken will be touring a St. Paul startup called ThisClicks on Friday ahead of his meeting with other company officials and business owners.
