Flash flooding closed part of Interstate 494 near Bloomington Monday night for two hours, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The standing water started gathering near Penn Avenue under the overpass around 7 p.m. The pool of water slowed traffic in both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
The eastbound lanes were closed and three lanes were blocked in the westbound lanes in the area until just after 9 p.m. Traffic was rerouted onto Penn Avenue.
Semi trucks were allowed to get by on the shoulder.
