The Schmidt sign above the historic Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul will be re-lit this weekend.

As part of the inaugural GermanFest Minnesota, City Councilmember Dave Thune, Dominium Senior Vice President Mark Moorhouse and neighborhood representatives will flip the switch to bring back the iconic lettering over the Fort Road neighborhood on Saturday, June 21, at 8:30 p.m.

The sign hasn’t been around since the early 1990s. Dominium, the developer behind the renovation of the historic Schmidt complex into affordable housing for artists, wanted the iconic sign to be part of the rehabilitated building.

Lawrence Sign is responsible for the construction of the letters.
