It's that time of year when people and families are getting out on their bicycles and enjoying the weather.

There are programs like Nice Ride in Minneapolis where you can rent a bicycle if you don't have one, but a new report out on Thursday from Washington State University shows bicycle-related head injuries are up 14 percent in the U.S. and Canada since bike-sharing programs began.

Dr. Andrew Kiragu, the Medical Director of the Pediatric ICU at the Hennepin County Medical Center joined Ellen MacNamara Thursday afternoon to talk about what people can do to keep themselves safe while riding bikes and what kinds of bike injuries they're seeing locally.
