Canterbury Park will stage its annual Fireworks Spectacular on Thursday, July 3. The event will follow an evening of horse racing.
The Fireworks, choreographed to music, will begin about 10 p.m. There will be live music and dancing after the last race before the fireworks.
On Friday, July 4, race fans can enjoy free Hormel Hot Dogs, plus be entertained by a hot dog eating contest. Interested hot dog contest participants can sign-up at www.canterburypark.com.
On the 4th there will be the "Wiener Dog Warm Up Race," which is a prelude to dachshunds competing in the "Labor Day Wiener Dog Wars" on Sept. 1.
For the kids there will be free pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting. After the final race of the day children can run on the track.
Gates open at 11:30 a.m. on July 4, with the first race at 12:45 p.m.
Admission on July 3 and 4 is free for anyone 17 or under, $8 for 18 and older.
Free parking is available for Canterbury Park patrons.
Canterbury Park is located at 1100 Canterbury Road in Shakopee.
