Community members can learn more about the Southwest Reconnection Project in the south metro during an open house Thursday.

The project will affect the Highway 101 and County Road 61 corridor and is meant to help with traffic problems caused by seasonal flooding of the Minnesota River. Crews will build a new four-lane Highway 101 that spans the floodplain between the current Highway 101 Minnesota River Bridge in Shakopee and Flying Cloud Drive in Chanhassen.

The project will also add a roundabout at the corridor to help with congestion and future improvements.

Attendees can learn about the project, see layouts, and talk with project managers during the open house.

The open house is from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Chanhassen Public Library. Find more information about the project here.
