Social media can be great for reconnecting with old friends or sharing events in your life. But can it actually change your life? Could it even save a life? 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS met a group of people who say "yes!"

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS anchor Brad Sattin traveled to Littleton, Colorado, for a story about the hidden powers of Facebook.

When Amy Anderson of Bloomington woke up one morning to discover she lost feeling in her legs, she never could have imagined she had multiple sclerosis, until doctors gave her the devastating news. She found it increasingly more difficult to walk. Amy found comfort in a local friend also battling the disease, Shannon Dotson. But despite a supportive family, she still felt alone.

Until she discovered a Facebook page of more than 11,000 other people with MS. They were supportive, loving, and compassionate. But most of all, they understood how Amy was feeling.

So when one of the Colorado Facebook members decided the group she meet, Amy and Shannon loaded up the car and set out to Littleton for the emotional "reunion."

See their story, and what they're doing to ease the pain of the disease. Plus, hear the personal connection this story has to one of our own here at 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
