In 37 years at 5 Eyewitness News, Evening Chief Meteorologist Dave Dahl has done it all. You've seen him forecast the weather, you've seen him chase storms, but have you ever seen him teach?

"A tornado, I basically have learned all my life what to expect from a tornado," Dave said, "but from kids you just never know what they're going to ask you."

So naturally, we sent Dave out of the studio and into school. Tai, Ruby, Izzy, and Rebecca, all students at Afton-Lakeland Elementary School, signed-up for Weather 101 with none other than professor Dave Dahl.

The curriculum covered almost everything Minnesota weather has to offer, which just like Dave's students, can be a handful. Topics included lightning, thunder, clouds, and storm safety, just to name a few.

Long story short, Dave likes to say when you live in Minnesota, you have to be prepared. That goes for the weather, and as you'll see, it might go double for being a meteorologist.
