Beloved Minnesota television journalist, Jason Davis, will retire May 30, 2014 capping an extraordinary broadcasting career that began in 1968.  The station will celebrate his outstanding achievement throughout the week of May 19 with a series of special stories and tributes on KSTP 5 Eyewitness News.

Ask Jason what he will miss most about his work and he says with a smile, "I will miss the exciting travel and the fascinating people.”  Jason continues, “I have been given the unique freedom to choose my own stories, travel where I will, and write & produce the story I want to tell. I don’t think any other person in the television industry has been given the freedom I have enjoyed at KSTP.”

“Jason joined KSTP in 1976, and he has been informing and captivating viewers ever since,” says Stanley Hubbard, Chairman of Hubbard Broadcasting. “Jason won the first Emmy awarded in KSTP history in 1996.  He has been a tremendous asset to KSTP and will be greatly missed.”

Throughout his career, Jason Davis has won a total of seventeen awards from the local National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Upper Midwest Chapter. In 2008, Jason was inducted into the Minnesota Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame.  In 2005, he won the Northwest Broadcast News Association Eric Sevareid Award for Public Service. In 2004, he won a regional Edward R. Murrow award.  In October 2000, Jason was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle for years of contributing news reports, feature stories and documentaries to Twin Cities' television. The Silver Circle is one of the highest honors awarded by the National Television Academy.

“On the Road” will continue to air in its time slot on Sunday at 11 p.m. on KSTP 5 Eyewitness News through the end of the December 2014.

“On the Road” also airs on WDIO in Duluth, MN and on KAAL-TV in Austin/Rochester, MN.
