Minnesota's hit and run laws could soon be toughened up.

A bill up for a Minnesota House vote Tuesday at the Capitol would require drivers to stop to see if they hit a person.

It's an effort to close a loophole that allows a driver to leave an accident, and later come back, and claim they didn't know what they hit. The bill would ensure not knowing would no longer be a legal defense.

The legislation has already passed in the Senate.
