There’s a new push to get more kids and teens to enjoy the great outdoors.
The U.S. Department of the Interior, the National League of Cities and the YMCA will work together to create programs aimed at getting kids to play, learn and work outside.
The 10 Million Kids outdoors Campaign is a three-year initiative, seeking a future in which all children spend time outside each day - creating a generation of happier and healthier children with more awareness and connection to the natural world.
Interior Secretary Sally Jewell visited St. Paul to launch the program. She says many kids today grow up inside, surrounded by technology.
The goal is to get at least 10 million young people involved in the programs.
