Nearly 120 years after it was built, a Minneapolis home that was once designated a historic resource by the city will come down.
The city council voted to allow demolition of the Orth House, which sits at 2320 Colfax Avenue South.
It’s considered one of the key architectural feats of one of the Twin Cities most well-known builders, but now it's a rooming house.
The owner says only a small percentage of the structure is the original.
He wanted to sell the property to a developer, which could demolish the home. A four-story, 45-unit apartment building has been proposed to building in its place.
