Roads all across the metro took a beating this winter and now cities are paying the price to fix them.

Anoka approved an additional $1.2 million to repair and resurface streets in the northeast corner of the city.

It's using funds already set aside for other projects, including more then $600,000 to improve Green Haven Golf Course.

"It's kind of a shell game. You always have to take a look at what is our highest priority and right now our streets are certainly the top priority," city engineer Greg Lee said.

The city says work on the road project should start around the end of May and will take a few months to complete.
