The Minneapolis City Council on Tuesday talked about revitalizing Lake Street and Nicollet Avenue in South Minneapolis, and the public is invited to weigh in.
In the late 1970s, Nicollet Avenue was closed between 29th Street and Lake Street to make way for retail development. Now, the city wants to reconnect the area through the site where Kmart and Jerry’s Foods are currently located to help with transportation. The redevelopment would also include housing and commercial space.
The hearing took place during the city council’s Community Development and Regulatory Services Committee meeting.
