Gov. Mark Dayton has declared April the "Month of the Military Child."
On Tuesday, children with parents serving in the Armed Forces are being recognized for the sacrifices they make while their parent serves.
A ceremony held Tuesday morning in the Minnesota State Capitol Rotunda was part of the fourth-annual “Purple Up! Day” for military kids.
Month of the Military Child was first celebrated in April 1986 under former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger. For more information on all military youth activities this month, visit minnesotanationalguard.org/momc.
