Yard Waste Pickup Begins in Minneapolis

In a sign that the warmer weather is here to stay - yard waste pickup season has begun in Minneapolis.

According to the city, Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling customers can now put compostable bags of yard waste, bundles of brush and reusable yard waste containers next to their garbage cans by 6 a.m. on their garbage collection day.

Requirements for yard waste:

  • Branches must be less than 3 inches in diameter and less than 3 feet long
  • Bundles of branches must weigh less than 40 pounds
  • Branches and leaves must either be tied with string or twine, packed in a compostable bag or placed in a reusable container

Residents can also drop off yard waste at a compost facility. Residents with questions on yard and brush pickup can call 612-673-2917.
