If you're looking for a way to give back to your community, this is a good week to get started.

It's 40th anniversary of National Volunteer Week. KSTP sat down with Troy Gerber, the regional director with Verified Volunteers.

There are a number of national volunteer week events to join in on, including two events locally next Saturday.

  • The St. Paul Citywide Spring Cleanup, 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. 1,500 volunteers needed. 6 locations across the city.
  • The Friendship and Flowers Services need 15-20 volunteers to make social visits to home-bound older adults once a month. This includes some training and orientation.
