A teardown ban in Minneapolis that was projected to last an entire year might only last a few weeks.
The city halted demolition and new construction permits in the five neighborhoods surrounding Lake Harriet because of concerns about after-hour noise, litter and dumpsters.
On Thursday, a committee of the Minneapolis City Council lifted the ban on teardowns and rebuilds in favor of a detailed construction management plan.
The new plan includes notifying nearby homeowners about plans for construction.
The moratorium remains in effect until the deal goes before the full council next week on April 11.
