Minnesota regulators have been holding hearings across northern Minnesota on Enbridge Energy's proposal to expand the capacity of its Alberta Clipper pipeline. A final forum on the issue took place Thursday in St. Paul.
The Alberta Clipper pipeline runs from Alberta to northeastern North Dakota, then crosses northern Minnesota on its way to a terminal in Superior, Wis. An administrative law judge took testimony on whether the PUC should grant the company's request to increase the capacity of the pipeline by 40 percent.
Climate change activists oppose the project because it would carry Canadian tar sands oil.

The forum started at 3 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Public Utilities Commission Office. Two rallies will also be held ahead of the forum – one for the project and one against it.
