Governor Dayton's "unsession" took a step forward Wednesday.

The governor is getting rid of laws he calls obsolete, redundant and unnecessary.

He signed a bill into law that removes five of those laws.

Laws removed through this bill date back to 1921, including state requirements for National Guard uniforms and equipment, which are now covered by federal law.

The bill passed unanimously in both chambers.

The governor has proposed more than 1,000 reforms that he says will improve state government services, eliminate unnecessary and outdated laws, and simplify the language of our state statutes.
