After cancelling or postponing 11 games last season, the Gophers softball team will once again change their schedule after the late spring has prevented play at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium.

Minnesota will move its home-opening series against Illinois to the University of St. Thomas this weekend, the team announced Thursday. The teams will play Friday afternoon and a double-header on Saturday at South Field. There will be no game on Sunday.

The original plan was to play a three-game series over the course of the weekend.

Earlier this week a still-frozen Siebert Field postponed the Gophers baseball team from playing its home-opener against St. John's. The baseball team will host Michigan State for three games this weekend, including a double-header on Sunday.

Last weekend the team played against Northwestern in St. Charles, Mo., instead of Evanston, Ill.

The Gophers softball team is scheduled to play Wisconsin April 4-6 at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium.
