The winter sports season is nearing its end, but snowboarders are still shredding and skiers are still carving at Buck Hill in Burnsville.

David Rossmiller and his kids hit the slopes for the first time this year Wednesday, even though the season is nearly over.

"Probably because it was so cold this winter. If it hadn't been so cold we would have been out more," Rossmiller said.

Rossmiller said the conditions were really good Wednesday. "Windy, but lovely,"

Right now, Buck Hill is 100 percent open - that means all 16 runs are accessible - and all eight lifts are up and running. Plus, there's no lack of snow with a base between 36-72 inches.

Buck Hill opened for business just before Thanksgiving and they've been busy ever since. Once again, they laid out their big airbag for snowboarders to practice tricks.

It's possible no one was having more fun Wednesday than Odilia Mentari. She's an exchange student from Indonesia. It's her first winter and her first time skiing.

"I come from a country that doesn't snow at all. So, I am super, super excited for this," she said.

It appeared she'd gotten the hang of skiing pretty quickly.

"It's been a lot of fun for sure," she said.
