Heroin is a growing problem in Hennepin County, especially among teens, so law enforcement officials are taking steps to help stem the epidemic.

Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek and Adam Pederson from Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge joined Chris Egert in the studio Tuesday morning to talk about strategies to help parents recognize a heroin problem and what to do if they do.

Parents will have a chance to learn about the growing heroin and prescription drug abuse epidemic among teens during a meeting Tuesday.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office will talk with parents about drug trends they're seeing and strategies to prevent abuse.

The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Temple International Ministries in North Minneapolis.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
