Two Minnesota hospitals are on the list of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals.

Maple Grove Hospital and Woodwinds Health Camps in Woodbury were among the best small community hospitals.

The Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals® study identifies hospitals and leadership teams that provide the highest level of value to their communities, based on a national balanced scorecard.

“This significant achievement exemplifies what we are all about at Maple Grove Hospital in delivering exceptional quality of care, satisfaction, and community value at a reasonable cost," said Andy Cochrane, Chief Executive Officer at Maple Grove Hospital. "This national award showcases a culture of excellence and performance improvement that encompasses every aspect of our organization – from housekeeping to patient care and everything in between."

The 100 Top Hospitals were measures by performance across 10 areas: mortality; inpatient complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, and pneumonia.

This is the first time Maple Grove Hospital has been recognized with this top honor.

Woodwinds Health Camps also earned the Everest Award, which honors hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

The winning hospitals were announced in the March 3, 2014, edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
