POSTING DATE: November 18, 2014
JOB TITLE: Anchor
COMPANY: KSTP-TV, News/Weather/Sports
SCHEDULE: PM Newscasts, M-F
STATUS: Full Time, Salaried
Why did you become an anchor? Is it because you’re a pretty face? Is it because you are a smart, critical thinker who knows when to read emotion into a story? We want the whole package, so if you’ve got it, keep reading!
At KSTP, you’re not going to tell viewers which lipstick lasts the longest. Instead, we believe television news has the power to motivate and inspire our great state. That’s why you will be delivering major investigations on government waste, interviewing the people at the center of a story and working with one of the most talented teams of journalists in the country.
You need to be confident and smart enough to own your newscast. Our producers will give you top-notch content, but we expect you to develop your own questions for newsmakers. You must be willing to call this community home, so you can truly understand the stories that impact our viewers. The afternoon meeting isn’t just an opportunity to have fun, it’s your chance to weigh in on what’s important to the Minnesotans you’re talking to. We need leaders who can work hard, not egos that need to be managed. You’ll work for a management team that gets its hands dirty and we expect you to do the same. You’ll participate in show reviews with reporters and producers, you will be expected to pitch stories and turn long-form reports. If you want to grow and you are driven, then KSTP is the station for you.
