The Twin Cities, and most of Minnesota, was stung by a winter storm Thursday and the East Metro area was particularly hit hard.

It was a winter whiplash for thousands of people.Power outages, terrible driving conditions, high winds and even lightning made things difficult.

The East Metro saw some of the most snow and anyone who had to deal with this knew they needed a plan---a plan like Dan Martin's of Woodbury.

Martin tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS "I normally wait until the snow stops and then hit it with the snow blower, but this time I think I am going to change my plan and just try to stay on top of it because it does not look like it is going to stop anytime soon."

Martin was right.

The snow just kept coming and his plan was solid until his snow blower stopped working. Martin tells us "I took the thing apart and realized, after owning it for 20 years, it was a goner."

So, Martin ventured out and bought a new snow blower and resumed his plan---to tackle the snow early and often to make sure he could get out of his Woodbury neighborhood by Friday morning.
