An Andover husband and wife are facing felony charges for alleged tax crimes in Anoka County.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue says Charles Kinnunen is the owner of Superior Tent Rental, Inc., and has failed to file and pay the sales and withholding taxes for the business from 2010 to 2012.

According to the state, he owes more than $22,000 in sales and withholding taxes. The Anoka County Attorney’s Office has charged him with four felonies in that case.

Also, Charles Kinnunen and his wife, Michelle Kinnunen, have each been charged with two felonies for filing false income tax returns from 2007 to 2011, according to the criminal complaint. They allegedly owe the state more than $27,000 in income tax.

If convicted, they could each face up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines on each charge.

Anyone who suspects that a person or business is breaking tax laws is encouraged to call the Minnesota Department of Revenue tip line at 651-297-5195.
