Wis. Assembly Approves Increasing Road Spending

The Wisconsin state Assembly has passed a bill that would increase spending on highway projects this year by $43 million.
    
The bill passed unanimously Tuesday would accelerate spending on 11 projects around the state thanks to an $83 million surplus in the transportation fund.
    
If the measure passes the Senate and is signed into law by Gov. Scott Walker, the transportation fund would end the current fiscal year in June with a $41.6 million balance.
    
The projects include maintenance, road resurfacing, pavement replacement and bridge rehabilitation.
    
The projects are in Brown, Calumet, Door, Douglas, Langlade, Lincoln, Monroe, Outagamie, Sauk, Taylor and Walworth counties.
