The Vikings released linebacker Erin Henderson on Friday. According to 1500ESPN, the team cut ties with the six-year pro out of Maryland following two arrests on suspicion of DUI.

Henderson's latest arrest was Jan. 1 after he crashed his sport utility vehicle in Chanhassen.

Henderson is scheduled to appear in court March 3 on charges of second- and third-degree driving while intoxicated and test refusal, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and violation of a limited driver's license.

Henderson was moved to middle linebacker last season and the starter there until he was arrested Nov. 19 in Eden Prairie on suspicion of DWI and drug possession.

Henderson attempted to fill the team's void at middle linebacker in 2013, but struggled with the transition and eventually returned to the weakside.

Audie Cole filled in at middle linebacker.

Henderson had one season left on his contract with a $1.95 million salary. The Vikings are on the hook for $250,000 dollars of Henderson's signing bonus in 2014, according to Henderson had 69 tackles and four sacks for the Vikings last season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
