Many Minnesotans have been dealing with major traffic delays Thursday, but not everyone thinks the snowfall is a bad thing.

Extra snowfall means a little extra fun to many people. "It's a little shock, we were expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow and we got 5 to 6 inches, so we're pleasantly pleased," said Don McClure, General Manager of Buck Hill in Burnsville.

Locals told KSTP there was better snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding.

At Buck Hill, the additional inches made the difference between staying indoors, or getting outside. "I always try to get out when we get snow and I know we are getting some cold weather so I wanted to get out before it gets too cold and I want to get out this weekend too," said Mike Randall of Deephaven.

Some children told us they love the extra snow because they can do so many fun outdoor games in it. The snow totals are piling on, to the already good year at local ski hills. "We always see a nice boost in business after a nice snowfall," McClure said.

Near Lake Calhoun, this weekend's outlook for the Loppett Festival is taking a turn for the better, with the additional snow.

As for preps, setting up is getting tricky.

Head coach for Loppett foundation, Piotr Bednarski said, "In most years often there are parts of the course that don't have enough snow so we have to get out and shovel and patch them up.

This year we didn't have any of that and the course was in excellent shape, and with six inches of new snow, there's a lot more packing, more grooming that has to be done."

Friday through Sunday you can check out the Loppet Festival. It will culminate with dog sledding on Sunday afternoon.

But be aware, the coordinator said 50 percent of tickets are already sold. Some events, are already sold out.

On Thursday, there were large blocks of snow that will soon be carved and sculpted this weekend at the Loppet Festival.
