More cold and snow are coming back to Minnesota and the metro.

The clouds have moved in and snow is moving through the Twin Cities Metro, KSTP.com meteorologist Sam Ryan says.

The snow will last past midnight, Sam says. It is expected to accumulate to 2 to 4 inches by the end of Sunday in the Metro.

The winds pick up Sunday afternoon, which could cause blowing and drifting snow. Sam says “That could lead to whiteout and blizzard conditions, especially in outlying areas all across Minnesota.”

A blizzard watch has been issued for western Minnesota, while the southeastern part of the state will be under a winter storm watch most of the day Sunday.

The high on Sunday will be 18 degrees, but the low of 15 below will begin the transition from blizzard conditions to bitter cold, Sam says.

Temps will turn bitter-cold Sunday night, with lows near -12 and wind chills of -25 to -35.

Friday's temperature topped out at 32 degrees in the metro. Unfortunately, that's the last time we'll see mild temperatures for the next week as cold air moves back in, Sam says.

While Monday morning won't be as cold as Tuesday morning, the effect of the wind chill will make it the colder of the two days, Sam said. Monday the high will be around -8, with wind chills ranging from -20 to -30.

Tuesday with a high of -4 and wind chills will make it feel much colder.

Rochester schools have already called off school Monday because of the expected cold. Several Twin Cities area school districts, including St. Paul, Edina and Mounds View, have said they plan to decide by Sunday evening whether to close on Monday.
