A Ramsey County judge will hear arguments over the proposed new Minnesota Senate office building on Wednesday.
Former State Rep. Jim Knoblach filed a lawsuit to stop funding on the project. He says the use of tax money and the way it was approved is unconstitutional.
Last week a Senate committee approved the design for the $63 million building. The three-story building would be located just north of the Capitol.
Republicans question the need for the building intended to house offices for state senators and add larger hearing rooms. The GOP also is critical of Democrats for authorizing its construction in a tax bill, which is not typical for approving large state building projects.
