As dangerously low temperatures and wind chills continued, some school districts across the state, including Anoka-Hennepin, Minnetonka, Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools, canceled classes for Thursday, Jan. 23.

You can stay up to date on school closures with KSTP's School Alert.

A Wind Chill Warning extending across most of the state began at 6 p.m. Wednesday and expired at noon Thursday.

KSTP.com meteorologist Dave Dahl says we didn't make it above zero in the Twin Cities and the coldest wind chills were in the 30s below zero.

Dave says we'll get a brief break from the extreme cold on Friday as temperatures top out around 30 degrees. He says temperatures will drop again with highs on Saturday and Sunday in the single digits to low teens.

Light snow is expected to develop across the state Friday morning and again Friday night, with an inch or two possible.

The bitter cold will stick around into next week. Dave says we'll have a difficult time reaching double digits for most of the week.
