The name Gervais is long-established along the shore of Lake Superior near Tofte, Minn.

Back in the 1920s the family ran the only airport in that part of the country, and they operated a famous gas station along Highway 61 for decades.

So an understanding of all things mechanical is something that is bred into this family whose name is still a big factor here among snowmobilers.

Jerry Gervais is one of the pioneers of snowmobile racing back in the late 1960s when he was one of the few people to own, what was then called, generically, a ski-doo.

Jerry had early success as a racer and was soon representing Polaris at meets all over the country.

Today Jerry can be found all winter at his workshop on a spur of the famous Saw Bill Trail where he performs mechanical miracles for people who have problems with their snowmobiles. He has become famous in the area as the "Snowmobile Doctor.”

Even if your snowmobile is working fine, Jerry's workshop is worth a visit to see the scores of trophies and mementos of his racing days that line the shelves, but be prepared to listen to his tales of his youth when he was a young ace who admits today he broke eleven bones racing snowmobiles.

Contact Jerry Gervais at 218 663-7315.
