A lucky puppy is getting the love and care it needs after being abused for the first part of its life.
The 4-month-old pit bull is named Jarvis. A veterinarian says severe wounds that cover his body are burn wounds. The veterinarian says Jarvis also had an infection on the left side of his face.
Someone called Minneapolis Animal Care and Control just over a week ago to report the dog. When they got him, he was emaciated.
The vet determined the wounds reflect human abuse over an extended period of time, but the prognosis is good. "He is a normal 4-month-old puppy- plays and sits and stays and fetches just like you'd expect a normal dog to do. He does have a little rehab work to do as far as his muscles and things like that but he's come a long way and we expect that he'll go very far," said Jacob Young with Minneapolis Animal Care and Control.
Jarvis' next stop is a rescue agency to begin the adoption process.
Minneapolis Animal Care and Control will work with Minneapolis Police to investigate this case of animal abuse. At this point, additional details on a suspect have not been released.
