Officials believe a 19-year-old man is responsible for a murder-suicide in Olmsted County.

Deputies responded to a "medical call" Monday night and discovered the man and woman in the shed near a house. The property is located on the border of rural Oronoco and Pine Island off of County Road 12. Authorities said they found 18-year-old Kayla Jill Koranda of Rochester with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. She died at the scene.

Authorities also found 19-year-old Nicholas Bryan Roecker of Pine Island, with a gunshot wound. Roecker was taken to Mayo Clinic where he later died. Click here to read the full story.

The director of Rochester Catholic Schools released the following statement:

Dear RCS Families and Friends,

It is with great sadness that we share the following news. Yesterday, Monday, January 6, 2014 two members of our RCS family passed away. Kayla Koranda and Nicholas Roecker were both graduates of Holy Spirit Catholic School and most recently of Lourdes High School's class of 2013. At this time we know only what has been communicated by the media regarding their deaths and we are asking for your prayers for the deceased and their families. I invite you all to join together in this time of sorrow and grief, as a school and faith community, to hold all those who have been impacted by this tragedy close to your hearts during their time of loss.

We are also aware of the tremendous sorrow and discomfort that this news brings to so many members of our school family- namely our students. With this in mind, please know that great effort has been put into preparations by the RCS Crisis Team comprised of administrators, counselors, school and parish staff, and clergy, to provide ample systems of support to those in need- whether that be within the high school, elementary school or parish environments. While our students are always our primary focus, please know that any support we can offer is extended to our graduates and parents as well.

With our schools playing such a major role in the lives of our children, they bear responsibility to serve as conduits for communicating information. However, in matters as personal, delicate and sensitive as the loss of human life, our schools also serve as a system of support by protecting the privacy and respecting the grieving process of a family mourning their lost child. Thus we trust that you understand any communication coming from Rochester Catholic Schools will be centered on supporting those who are experiencing suffering and pain, as well as our collective efforts to be present and ministering to the needs of our students.

Again, we ask that you please pray for both the Koranda and Roecker families- for comfort and strength - and for our entire RCS community, so that we might unite as one in Him to be support for others during such a tender time.

With sympathy and in prayer,

Michael Brennan

Director of Rochester Catholic Schools
