On the Road: North Shore Cabin Musician

January 20, 2017 10:50 AM

The already snowy winter along the north shore of Lake Superior has turned that picturesque part of Minnesota into a winter wonderland and provided the perfect backdrop for an unusual music event.

Jason Davis went “On the Road” to Grand Marais and discovered Michael Monroe, an accomplished singer, songwriter who has become known for his “cabin concerts” in his own north shore cabin.

Michael has become a well-known entertainer around the country, and these concerts draw both friends from around the area and paying customers from far and wide.

The concerts give a true sense of life in the woods and have a very personal feel, both of which, Michael said, adds to the appeal for visitors. Michael and his wife and manager Deborah host up to four concerts per month.
